The Rest Revolution - Voices From the Front Lines
This is a special series of the podcast focused on my new book, The Rest Revolution: How to Reclaim Your Rhythm and Conquer Burnout When Overworking Has Become the Norm, which comes out on November 13th.
I’m thrilled to share this book with you because I believe it’s my most important work yet. In The Rest Revolution, I explore how we’ve been conditioned to treat ourselves like machines and how this mindset leads to burnout, exhaustion, and a disconnection from our true selves.
The Rest Revolution isn’t just about rest; it’s about the great realignment that is happening in this country. People are slowly waking up to the idea that good lives require more than work and achievement. Good lives require you getting in alignment with the purposeful work, key relationships, and energizing activities that are most important to you.
I interview high achieving professionals, psychologists, sociologists, and medical experts on how we can you can reclaim your humanity, find more balance, and choose to live and work in a way that truly aligns with your purpose. It’s about breaking free from the toxic cycle of overwork and finding a new, sustainable way forward. If you’ve ever felt like you’re running on fumes or just going through the motions, this book is for you.
If you love this podcast, I know you’ll love the book. The Rest Revolution will be available on November 12th from all major booksellers, and you can visit www.therestrevolutionbook.com to preorder your copy now. I can’t wait for you to read it.

[Ep. 23] Moving Beyond a One-Woman Show
Thursday May 12, 2016
Thursday May 12, 2016
http://www.amandamillerlittlejohn.com/podcast As you build your brand, eventually, if you're doing things right, you'll need some help. But how will you find it? In today's episode, I explore how to move beyond the one-woman show and grow a team that builds your empire.
Do you consider yourself an artist or "creative"? Are you used to being an independent contributor, a technician, a one-woman show? Have you tried to grow your empire by yourself?
Yeah, you can't.
We dish about trust issues, opening yourself up to others and finding qualified talent to support you as you grow your team.
A few tips from the episode:
FIRST If you can't afford to hire someone, ask yourself what can you potentially offer to someone that may entice them to help you out in a barter situation?
You may have experience, encouragement, relationships, or even tangible skills. Evaluate what you have to offer in terms of mentorship and connections.
SECOND Open your heart and trust that there are people out there who are willing to help you and champion you. People are out there - just open yourself up to it! Believe that what you have to offer is amazing and that people would be thrilled to work alongside you.
THIRD Envision your team and how it would work. Have a picture in your mind of how your team would look, where you would work, etc.
FOUR Talk to the winners! Winners typically run together. Ask them for their recommendations.
FIFTH Talk to professors and ask them to recommend their VERY BEST students.
Talk to leaders in your community who have access to many different people - what have they heard when making their rounds?
SIXTH Look to your own tribe! Who is following you on social media? Who is already opted in? There may be someone there who'd love the opportunity to help you grow your brand.
Hope these tips help you move beyond the one-woman show. Leave a comment and share your tips for growth so we can figure this out together.

How do you continuously attract GAME CHANGING opportunities to your brand? That's the question I asked startup investor and advisor Lauren Maillian.
Lauren's entrepreneurial journey is an inspiration - after starting her first business - a vineyard and winery at the age of 19, Lauren started Luxury Market Branding, a boutique branding agency and went on to eventually become an investor counting tech startups like Levo League among her portfolio. In 2014, all before the tender age of 30, Lauren authored a business memoir "The Path Redefined" which became a bestseller.
She currently can be found each week on Oxygen on the new business show "Quit Your Day Job" which is being hailed as a "Shark Tank" meets "The Profit" for women entrepreneurs.
I caught up with Lauren in NYC to talk opportunities - more importantly how she continues to attract opportunity after opportunity in such a fickle entertainment and media world. We discussed how her work ethic coupled with a relationship savvy has helped her attract game changing opportunity after game changing opportunity.
I am inspired by Lauren as a mom, business woman and friend and am delighted to share this conversation with you. Follow Lauren on social media @LaurenMaillian (Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat) and visit her online at http://www.laurenmaillian.com
